We had a stellar night last night at FlipSide and I don't often use the word stellar. Pastor Bryan finished up our series on the Game of Love with a message about how to find your mate. He also answered some questions that were submitted by the teens throughout the month. If you get a chance, let Pastor Bryan know how much we appreciate him covering this difficult topic of Love, Dating & Sex.
Next month we will be kicking off our brand new series called FREEDOM! Who doesn't love that word? What is freedom really? How do we walk in the freedom offered to a Christ follower? How do we get freedom from our mistakes? These are a few of the questions we'll be tackling throughout November in FlipSide. Don't let your teens miss it!
Next Wednesday, October 31, we will not be having FlipSide at the ROCK. Instead we will be holding our second annual Chili Bash at Mike & Melissa Edwards home from 6-9pm. Bring your teen, a friend and $5 bucks for an exciting evening of games and good food! (see directions below)
I want to thank all of you again for continuing to partner with FlipSide!! We have seen alot of change over the past year and are highly anticipating more in the year to come. We have already set a record in FlipSide during 2007! We've seen more salvations than ever in the youth groups history! I had an encouraging meeting with our amazing FS staff earlier this week. I spent much of the time re-casting the vision for FlipSide for the next year. We went well past our scheduled meeting time because the ideas and enthusiasm kept coming. We're looking forward to the best year ever!!!
We would love to hear your encouragement and concerns so drop us a line anytime!
Love ya,
Pastor Matthew

Vacations are like a good truffle...
…short lived but sweet.
I had a great time doing as much nothing as I could and getting some quality time with Jesus. It’s great to be home.
October 2nd marked my first year on staff at The ROCK, and It feels like its been about a month. 8 days in Seattle gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and God’s incredible goodness. It seems He has a habit of giving us opportunites we don’t really deserve. It’s amazing how big God can be in our lives when we just let Him. I love that He doesn’t force us into things but just the same He doesn’t let us sit idle. Purpose has a way of surfacing through all of our fears and insecurities to reveal itself either subtlely or with a big splash. That God would give everyone of us a unique purpose speaks volumes about the ultimate Kingdom plan He must have up His sleeve. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.
Pastor Bryan has been spending the month of October teaching the teens about Dating & Sex, some very hot topics these days. He is doing an incredible job laying out the importance of healthy relationships between the sexes. I've met few men as well qualified to teach on this topic as Pastor Bryan. He doesn't mince words with the youth, he captures their attention and most importantly, he lives what he preaches. If your teen hasn't been to Flipside this month bring them and some of their friends to hear these crucial teachings.

PLEASE READ!
Hey everyone!
I recently planned for FlipSide to go to a concert in Myrtle Beach. The bands were Anberlin, Mae, Motion City Soundtrack, & Metro Station. I announced the event tonight as well as a price for registration. After FlipSide I learned that unfortunately 2 of the bands (Motion City Soundtrack & Metro Station) are not Christian bands and use explicit language in their music. I was under the impression that this was a christian concert and was very disappointed to find out otherwise. We have cancelled the trip to Myrtle Beach and hope to provide an alternative trip soon. I apologize for any inconvenience this oversight may have caused.
We encourage the teens to be careful of what they allow in their minds. The two mentioned bands do not represent the standards upheld by FlipSide or The ROCK. Thanks for understanding. Love you all.
