Last night was the season premiere of our new video series called KICK ME! where Matt Forstner (aka. Haz Matt) performs pointless stunts and we piece it together into a cleverly entertaining little 5 minute video. Everyone loved it! It’s merely a matter of time before “Haz Matt” becomes a household name.
I started a new series this month called “What Jesus Said…” where I will be selecting some of the incredible things Jesus said while He hung out on earth and showing the teens how to apply them. Last night I spoke about John 8:31-36 where Jesus speaks to the Jews about the power of the truth to set us free. I laid the foundation for the month by showing them how we can trust every single word Jesus spoke as being true. There was a great response to the message including some who wanted individual prayer afterwards for trust issues they were having in everyday life.
I want to take a second and thank you all again for what you are doing to instill truth in your teens. There are so many lies today being told to our youth it makes it even more crucial that we emphasize what is true. From the things they have to do to be accepted, to the clothes they wear, to the friends they choose, there is unbelievable pressure to compromise. The truth REALLY WILL set them free!! This isn’t just an idea, it’s the words of Jesus Himself. Whether it happens instantly in your child’s life or over time, I am 100% convinced that the truth you instill in them today will ultimately set them free from the lies of the world. I want to encourage every one of you to stay the course. Look beyond the rolled eyes and slammed doors to a future that holds an amazing promise for your teen. DO NOT GIVE IN PARENTS! You’re doing an awesome job! Watch what your teens are wearing, get on their MySpace, find out where their going, immerse yourself in their world and in time they will thank you for drilling truth and righteousness in them at every turn. You’re my Heroes!!
Ps. Check out the book “Let me tell you what your teens are telling me” when you get a chance, it may help you.
Love you,
Matthew
