We've only just begun!

Fourteen weeks have passed since I became Youth Pastor. It has been a very exciting and stretching road thus far and the Lord continues to amaze me with His faithfulness. For some reason, He has seen fit to give me the greatest group of young people in the world to begin my time in ministry. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to pour into their lives. I want to share with you what has been happening in FlipSide and what I am looking forward to in the near future.
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching our youth and sharing my life with them. In the past four months I’ve taught on overcoming fears, sharing our faith and allowing ourselves to relax and simply be loved by the Father. We have also had the privilege of hearing from Pastor Ron and Pastor Bryan.
On December 22, we had a lock-in that was attended by 30 teens. We had an incredible time playing flashlight tag, basketball, eating pizza and donuts, watching movies, drinking lots of energy drinks and best of all, I got NO sleep:) Thanks to our hard working staff, we had a night that left the teens wanting more. The young people continue to ask me almost every Wednesday, “When are we having the next lock-in?”
At 6pm, Wednesday, January 10 we opened the prayer room before FlipSide to a new prayer group called 4Site. No one is required to go but all of the youth are encouraged to. 4Site will take place every Wednesday night. We are providing a room with music and a great atmosphere to simply encourage the teens to come and talk to God and begin praying for their generation, FlipSide, friends and anything else the Lord lays on their heart.
On Saturday, February 3, we will kick off The Ascent, our youth small group designed to teach teens the importance of getting to know God. The group will be led by Mike & Melissa Edwards in their home every other Saturday. In a world driven by media and advertising, young people are being told from every angle who they are and who they should be. I believe it is crucial to begin showing them who God says they are and teaching them to distinguish His voice from the voice of the world. This will be an ongoing study, so regular attendance is encouraged. I’ve inserted directions and recommend you consider car pooling with other parents to make life a little easier. Thanks again for raising Godly teens in a world that doesn’t make it easy. I welcome your questions, input and insight anytime. I’m expecting this to be the greatest year in the history of FlipSide & The ROCK and I am thrilled to have you on board!
